Welcome to Burlesque Turning.  All art pieces were designed and created by Bruce Reed.

Artist Bruce Reed - BurlesqueTurning.comBruce has been a wood worker for 30 years and was the fortunate recipient of a wood lathe in 2008.  He quickly ran out of practical projects, such as pepper mills and Christmas ornaments and small bowls.  One day, he was struck by the notion that my wood work did not have to be practical.  He began looking for that next horizon (he calls it fumbling around in the dark) when he found and fell in love with burled hardwoods.  He’s been on a journey of discovery as he uses shape and form to bring out the best in an accident of nature.  A burl is the result of tree branch gone thankfully wrong.  He hopes you enjoy the Burlesque show as much as he has enjoyed creating them.  Visit his gallery page to see some of his great work.

To paraphrase Harry Chapin’s Mr. Tanner:

Turning is my life, It’s not my livelihood,
but it makes me feel so happy, It makes me feel so good,
That I turn from my heart,
And I turn from my soul, I do know how well I turn,
It just makes me whole….
